A vigorous large oak, Quercus x schochiana has attractive long, willow-like, toothed, dark green leaves which turn pretty shades of yellow, bronze and orange before falling in autumn.

An unusual and eye-catching oak with interesting leaves, eventually growing into a sizable tree.


  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Will tolerate damp but well drained soil. Avoid waterlogged areas.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Vigorous.
  • Habit: Quercus x schochiana eventually grows to be a large branching tree with a rounded crown.
    • Height: 20 m (65 ft)
    • Spread: 15 m (50 ft)
  • Notes: This oak is a hybrid between Quercus palustris and Quercus phellos.
