(Purple Beech) A curious and unusual wide, spreading small beech tree with slightly contorted branches, generally with a weeping branch tip and leaves which are an attractive, dark purple in colour.

The relatively low, parasol-like habit makes Fagus sylvatica 'Tortuosa Purpurea' look particularly attractive when allowed to grow out over a slope, stream or pond.
