Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight'

A lovely climbing plant with silver-marbled foliage and handsome clusters of white flowers in summer. Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight' also has attractive, heart shaped leaves which are silver with deep green veins all summer and showing orange / yellow tints before falling in autumn.

An unusual climber suitable for climbing through trees or up a shady wall where the silvery-green leaves are shown off to best effect.

• Position: Partial or reasonably heavy shade.
• Soil: Moist, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Hardy.
• Flowering Period: July - September.
• Rate of Growth: Slow until established then moderate.
• Habit: Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight' eventually grows to be a medium sized or large, self-clinging climbing plant.
  • Height: Eventually up to 8 m (26 ft). Can be pruned to keep at a smaller size if required.
  • Spread: 4 m (12 ft)

• Notes: In cooler, northern parts of the U.K., Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight' will grow in a sunny position. In southern areas with hot summers, they much prefer partial shade. This plant requires protection from slugs.
