The stems are armed with fearsome prickles and large, flat, heads of small white flowers, popular with bees and other insects are produced in late summer.
An unusual tree with a distinctly oriental feel about it, Kalopanax septemlobus f maximowiczii is a fine choice of tree for gardens where something 'a little bit different' is required!
