Tilia endochrysea is an exceptionally rare tree which has young leaves that emerge as a vibrant dark purple-red colour in Spring. The leaves are narrow and ovate (egg-shaped), up to 15 - 20 cm long once at their full size, turning to dark green in late spring as they age with a greyish-white underside.
