A rare birch tree,  Betula dahurica 'Maurice Foster'  has very eye-catching peeling, papery bark with the outer layers dark mahogany red in colour, creamy-gray underneath.

Betula dahurica 'Maurice Foster' is a lovely small to medium sized tree but although very hardy, we find that it does seem to do a lot better when planted in a hot, sunny position where the new growth can ripen fully.
