A lovely selection of honeysuckle with a particularly long flowering period, Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' has clusters of fragrant, creamy white, flushed reddish-purple flowers in late summer. These flowers stand out very well against the dark green leaves and this is particularly attractive when grown against a sunny wall or over an old tree stump.


  • Position: Full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Will tolerate damp ground as long as it is free draining.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: July - October.
  • Rate of Growth: Vigorous.
  • Habit: Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' grows to be a large, twining, climbing plant which requires support as it will not self-cling.
    • Height: up to 6 m (20 ft)
    • Spread: 3 m (10 ft)
  • Notes: Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' can tolerate some shade but will flower best in a warm, sunny position.
