A lovely but misleadingly named holly, Ilex x altaclerensis 'Golden King' is actually a female holly with golden-variegated, dark green leaves and dark red berries if pollinated by a male holly. The golden variegation is eye-catching and makes this form an excellent choice of shrub for giving some winter interest to a mixed border.

Very suitable for bring grown as a screening plant or as part of an unusual and colourful hedge!
