Lovely cultivar first discovered growing in Western Tasmania in 1986, Eucryphia lucida 'Ballerina' has large (up to 3 cm across), pale pink flowers with eye-catching crimson stamen in late summer. These colourful flowers stand out well against the dark green, glossy leaves. An unusual and handsome, evergreen flowering tree!


  • Position: Sheltered in full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Somewhat hardy. Eucryphia lucida 'Ballerina' requires a warm position and shelter from cold winter winds.
  • Flowering Period: July - August.
  • Flower Colour: Pale pink
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Eucryphia lucida 'Ballerina'  eventually a small, densely branching tree although it can be pruned to grow with a more shrub-like habit if preferred.
    • Height: up to 8 m (26 ft).
    • Spread: 4 m (13 ft).
