Deutzia ningpoensis is a rare and beautiful shrub native to China with panicles of white flowers along the branches in mid summer. The leaves are narrow and grey-green in colour. Also known as Deutzia chunii.

Most suited for a position sheltered from cold wind in sun or light, dappled shade.


  • Position: Full Sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy. Requires a warm, sheltered position - avoid cold, windy areas.
  • Flowering Period: July.
  • Flower Colour: White (sometimes petals tinged with pink)
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Deutzia ningpoensis grows to be a medium sized shrub once established.
