A rare small tree, Crataegus ellwangeriana 'Fireball' is very handsome once established with clusters of lightly fragrant flowers in late spring and large, oval, dark green leaves which pretty orange autumn tints.

Established plants have masses of large (getting on for the size of crab apples) drooping, glowing crimson-red fruit which last well into winter if not eaten by local wildlife first!
