A native to the South-western United States and North Mexico, Cupressus arizonica 'Glauca'' is an unusual, handsome, evergreen conifer with beautiful, fragrant, silvery-blue foliage. Small, rounded cones appear in spring and established plants have a superb, dense, narrow habit.


  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Medium sized tree with a dense, slender, upright habit.
    • Height: up to 18 m (60 ft).
    • Spread: 5 m (16 ft).
  • Notes: We have a specimen of Cupressus arizonica 'Glauca', planted in the woodland garden surrounding our nursery. After 12 years it has reached a height of 6 m (20 ft) and a spread of 1.5 m (5 ft)
