A rare and elegant, small deciduous tree native to China which has veined and pointed leaves and graceful arching branches once established. The leaves turn shades of orange and purple before falling in autumn.

Best in a position with sun or light dappled shade with shelter from cold wind..

Position: Sun or light, dappled shade.
Soil: Moist, fertile soil.
Hardiness: Reasonably hardy.
Flowering Period: April - May.
Rate of Growth: Moderate.
Habit: In the UK, Carpinus fargesiana usually grows to be a small branching tree.
