An eye-catching deciduous fern native to Eastern Asia, Athyrium niponicum f. metallicum has deeply cut mid green fronds with silver and purple tints, giving the leaves a slightly metallic appearance.

Most suited to a position in light dappled or heavy shade. It can also be grown very successfully in a container, provided it is in a shady position.

Soil: Moist, fertile soil.
Hardiness: Hardy.
Rate of Growth: Slow.
Habit: Athyrium niponicum f. metallicum grows to be a small, clump forming fern gradually spreading once established.
