(Coastal Redwood) Native to the west coast of North America, Sequoia sempervirens is a very tall, fast growing, evergreen tree with dark green foliage and a distinctive narrow, conical shape.  They have a thick layer of soft, spongy, reddish bark that helps insulate the tree from wildfires in its natural habitat.

May be grown as a single specimen tree or planted in groups for added impact as we have done in our gardens here.

Native to the west coast of North America, Sequoia sempervirens is a very tall, fast growing, evergreen tree with dark green foliage and a distinctive narrow, conical shape. They have a thick layer of soft, spongy, reddish bark that helps insulate the tree from wildfires in its natural habitat.

Mature trees are capable of reaching more than 90 m in height and living for over 2000 years. Sequoia sempervirens is a truly majestic tree and walking through a grove of these is akin to walking through a cathedral.

Can be grown as a single specimen tree or planted in groups for added impact as we have done in our gardens here.

  • Soil: Moist or well drained, fertile soil. Sequoia sempervirens does not enjoy shallow, chalky soils.
  • Hardiness: Hardy. In the U.K Sequoia sempervirens appreciates some shelter from cold winds.
