(Monterey Pine) Unusual in the UK this is a slender evergeen tree initially, gradually developing into a more rounded medium sized tree with age which has handsome soft, bright green needles. Established trees have dark bark and yellow-brown cones. Native to parts of California and Mexico.

Most suitable to a sunny position with good drainage and som shelter from strong winds. Does not usually enjoy cold, exposed areas.

  • Rate of Growth: Moderate to vigorous.
  • Habit: Pinus radiata typically grows to be a small or eventually mkedium sized tree for much of the UK, slender initially more rounded when mature. Can be larger in very mild, favorable areas.
    • Height: 10 - 12 m (32 - 40 ft)
