Heptacodium miconioides 'Tianshan'

A New to us, this is a lovely compact shrub or eventually very small tree with masses of dainty, fragrant white flowers in late summer and flaking bark once established. The flowers are very popular with insects including butterflies and are followed by striking dark purple-red calyxes in autumn.

The leaves are dark green in colour with yellow and bronze autumn tints before they fall. 

More compact then the classic Heptacodium miconioides once established and more suitable for areas with limited space or for growing in a large container

• Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Hardy.
• Flowering Period: August to early October depending on weather.
• Rate of Growth: Moderate.
• Habit: Heptacodium miconioides 'Tianshan' grows to be a large shrub with a fountain-shaped, multi-stemmed habit once established.
