An evergreen plant native to New Zealand with fresh, apple-green leaves which are pleasing to the eye and also useful as a foil for flower arranging.

Mature plants develop a dense, bushy habit which is easy to maintain and makes an excellent dense hedge or screen.

Can be grown in a large container.


  • Position: Full sun or dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Griselinia littoralis does well in mild coastal areas but may require protection from severe winter frost in colder parts of the U.K.
  • Flowering Period: June - August.
  • Flower Colour: Pale yellow
  • Rate of Growth: Vigorous.
  • Habit: Medium sized or eventually large, densely branching shrub with an upright habit. Can be pruned yearly to keep neat at a smaller size.
    • Height: up to 6 - 8 m (20 - 26 ft).
    • Spread: 6 m (20 ft).
  • Notes: Please be aware that although hardy in costal areas, Griselinia littoralis can be a fickle and difficult plant in the winter inland or if planted in a poor positionAs such, it is not covered by our normal guarantee.
