One of the best known clematis varieties, Clematis 'Jackmanii' was first introduced in the 19th century and has masses of deep purple-blue flowers in summer and early autumn.

Clematis 'Jackmanii'  is an excellent climber for many positions but is known for being particularly hardy and suitable for growing up trellis against a sunny wall or fence.
