An eye-catching deciduous grass, Carex grayi has narrow, light green leaves and clusters of seeds in summer which look very much like spiked clubs or morning stars.

Any eye-catching border grass and ideal for use as a decoration with cut flowers. Very effective when planted in small groups.

  • Soil: Moist fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: June - July.
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Carex grayi grows to be an upright, clump forming grass.
    • Height: up to 120 cm (4 ft)
    • Spread: 60 cm (2 ft)
  • Pruning: Carex grayi dies back to the ground each winter. Cut back to a height of 10 cm in March.
