Camellia sasanqua 'Hiryu'

New to us this is an unusual evergreen, medium sized shrub with masses of vivid rosy-pink flowers with a yellow centre once established in autumn and early winter. The leaves are glossy and dark green in colour.

Best in sun or partial shade with some shelter from strong winds. Can be grown well in a large container.

• Position: Full sun or partial shade.
• Soil: Neutral or preferably acid soil. In chalky areas this can be grown in a large container with ericaceous compost.
• Hardiness: Reasonably hardy but prefers shelter from strong winds.
• Flowering Period: October - December.
• Rate of Growth: Slow to moderate.
• Habit: Camellia sasanqua 'Hiryu'  grows to be a medium sized or eventually large shrub.
