A tough, medium sized evergreen shrub, Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia' has glossy, dark green leaves with patches of colourful yellow variegation. Although usually grown as a foliage plant this has small purple-red flowers in spring.

Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia' is a tough and reliable shrub for sun or shade but known for tolerating difficult positions such as dry, heavy shade quite well.

Position: Full sun or shade. Will tolerate heavy shade well.
Soil: Any fertile soil.
Hardiness: Hardy.
