(Red-stemmed Maple) New to us, this is a flamboyant maple which has lime green leaves in Spring turning dark green with age and bright orange-red winter stems. The leaves tirn bright golden-orange and red before falling in autumn.
This is similar to the well known Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku' in appearance but is not so vigorous with a more compact habit once established.
Best winter stem colour in a position with plenty of sun. Prefers a little shelter from strong winds and can be grown in a large container.
