Description
Unusual and decorative species of hornbeam native to Japan, Carpinus japonica is known for producing stunning catkins when established, hop-like and quite persistent in autumn. The leaves are narrow with deeply impressed veins and the young growth in spring and early summer is a most attractive burgundy colour before turning darker green later in the year.
