Vitex 'Summertime Blues'

An unusual, deciduous shrub which has aromatic light green leaves and fragrant, slender, lavender blue flower panicles in late summer or early autumn. This new selection is typically more compact and smaller once established than the otherwise similar Vitex agnus-castus

A tasteful, late flowering shrub for a sunny garden! Grows well in a large container.

• Position: Warm in full sun.
• Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Vitex 'Summertime Blues' requires a hot, sunny position to ripen the new growth in the summer and produce most flower spikes.
• Flowering Period: August - October
• Rate of Growth: Slow to moderate.
• Habit: In the UK Vitex 'Summertime Blues'will generally grow to be small or eventually medium sized, rounded, compact shrub.
  • Height: up to 1.5 - 2 m (5 - 6 ft).
  • Spread: 1.5 - 2 m (5 - 6 ft).

• Notes: To encourage flowering, prune out the old, flowering shoots in early Spring.
