A rare evergreen shrub native to Eastern Asia, Viburnum odoratissimum var awabuki has glossy green leaves which appear almost as though they have been coated in varnish.

In late summer it has large, lightly fragrant, conical, panicles of white flowers. In a good position, these flowers can be followed by red fruit that turn black as they age.

This is a striking foliage plant which is ideal for most sheltered gardens and good for providing foliage colour in the middle of winter.
