Skimmia japonica ‘Finchy’

New to us, this is a stunning small or eventually medium sized evergreen shrub with glossy dark green leaves and conicals of  creamy-white flower bud in winter which open into white scented flowers in Spring.

This is a male form which will pollinate and improve the berry display of nearby female Skimmia japonia.

 Ideal for filling a space in a garden border and also very suitable for growing in a containers.

• Position: Full sun or shade.
• Soil: Well drained, lime free, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Hardy.
• Flowering Period: April - May.
• Flower Colour: White
• Rate of Growth: Slow to moderate.
• Habit: Small or eventually medium sized densely branching, rounded shrub.
  • Height: up to 1 - 1.2 m (3 - 4 ft)
  • Spread: 1 - 1.2 m (3 - 4 ft)

• Notes: Skimmia japonica ‘Finchy’ is a male selection and will not produce berries itself. It will however pollinate nearby female Skimmia.
