Sambucus nigra 'Serenade'

New to us, this is a very eye-catching deciduous shrub which has unusual, toothed leaves purple tinted when young and turning lime-green in the summer months before developing vibrant purple and orange autumn colours.

Clusters of white flowers appear in early summer followed by dark purple-black fruit which are popular with birds.

Ideal for a mixed border in sun or dappled shade and can also be grown well in a large container.
