A vigorous conifer valued for its timber and when mature a tall tree, with impressive down-swept branches and thick, corky bark.

Evergreen with dark green foliage, this is a good choice of tree for woodland or parkland planting and particularly effective when planted in groups.

For best habit and size once established ideally plant in a sunny position with shelter from strong winds.

Position: Full sun.
Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Enjoys damp soil (with good drainage) not suitable for waterlogged areas.
Hardiness: Hardy.
