This fine selection of balsam poplar comes from Vita Sackville West's garden and as the young leaves emerge in spring the air around this fast growing large tree is infused with the lovely smell of balsam. The leaves are bright green, turning shades of yellow and bronze before falling in autumn (shown in the first photo).

Populus balsamifera 'Vita Sackville West' is a vigorous, hardy large tree which is ideally suited for cool damp sites.
