Magnolia x 'Stellar Ruby'

A handsome evergreen shrub with lush, dark green leaves and lovely dark purple-red flowers in spring or early summer. These are followed by occasional secondary flowers in mid to late summer once established. 

Best in a sun or dappled shade in a position sheltered from strong winds. Can be grown in a large container.

• Position: Sheltered in full sun or light, dappled shade.
• Soil: Moist, lime-free or acidic soil.
• Hardiness: Somewhat hardy. Requires shelter from wind and protection in cold winters in some areas. Most suitable for mild areas and sheltered urban gardens.
• Flowering Period: April - May
• Flower Colour: Purple-red
• Rate of Growth: Moderate.
• Habit: Eventually a medium sized to large, upright shrub.
  • Height: up to 2.5 - 3 m (8 - 10ft) - can eventually grow to be taller than this in very mild areas.
  • Spread: 2.5 - 3m (8 - 10 ft).
