New to us, this is a slow growing and compact, evergreen small or eventually medium sized shrub with dainty, narrow dark green-purple leaves and cherry purple-red flowers in early summer.

A lovely plant, ideal for warm, sunny gardens. Can be grown in a large container.


  • Position: Warm in full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Somewhat hardy. Leptospermum scoparium 'Larouge' is hardy to about -3 to -5 C and does requires shelter from cold winter winds.
  • Flowering Period: May - June
  • Flower Colour: Cherry-red
  • Rate of Growth: Slow.
  • Habit: Small or eventually medium sized, rounded shrub.
    • Height: up to 1 m (3 ft).
    • Spread: 08. - 1 m (2 - 3 ft).
  • Notes: Leptospermum scoparium 'Larouge' is probably best suited to southern parts of the U.K. In the north as it will require a warm, sheltered position to survive the winters and can die if planted in a poor position or if not given sufficient winter protection.
  • Please note that although we usually guarantee plants for a year after purchase, we will NOT replace a failed Leptospermum scoparium 'Larouge'.
