Native to Japan, this requires a warm sheltered position to thrive. It is not suitable for cold, windy areas.

Native to Japan, this requires a warm sheltered position to thrive. It is not suitable for cold, windy areas.

  • Soil: Most reasonably well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Reasonably hardy but requires shelter from strong winds. 
  • Flowering Period: May - June.
  • Flower Colour: Greenish-White
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Tall conical shrub or eventually very small tree once established. Possibly slightly larger in very mild, favourable sites.
    • Height: up to 4 - 5 m (13 - 16 ft).
    • Spread: 2.5 - 3 m (8 - 10 ft).
