(Silk Tassel Bush) Native to the western United States this is a magnificent, evergreen shrub, famous for its long (up to 25 - 30 cm), trailing, grey-green catkins in late winter. These delightful catkins make give a fantastic winter display and this plant is particularly beautiful when grown against a wall or fence, as this helps gives it height and shape.

Although tolerant of shade and often planted to fill shady areas, for example against north facing walls, it flowers better in a position with plenty of sun. Can be grown in a large container.
