A notoriously difficult to propagate plant, Dipelta ventricosa was first introduced to the United Kingdom from Western China in 1904 and is still rare in cultivation. It is similar to Dipelta floribunda but has a darker, lilac-rose, pitcher-like flower with a dark golden-orange throat.
Best display of flowers typically seen when planted in a warm, sunny position wit1h some shelter from strong winds.
