An ornamental tree native to central China, Acer davidii has bark covered with snake-like white stripes which are particularly eye-catching in winter. The leaves are dark green in spring and summer, turning shades of orange and yellow before falling in autumn.

Acer davidii makes a fine garden tree ideal for planting in a sheltered position, either as a standalone specimen or as part of a woody border.

Particularly good next to a path or door, where the elegant habit and winter bark is best appreciated.
