A subtle selection, Hamamelis x intermedia 'Limelight' has unscented flowers with very pale yellow, almost tinged with green petals in late winter and early spring. Although not as instantly eye-catching as some of the other cultivars, the flowers are perhaps the most pale yellow of any Hamamelis hybrid and very interesting in their own right.
The cool green leaves turn shades of yellow before falling in autumn.
Supplied Size: 3L pots (approx 30 - 40 cm tall)
Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Hamamelis x intermedia 'Limelight' dislikes shallow, chalk soil and will not grow well in wet or waterlogged conditions.
Hardiness: Hardy. As a young plant, Hamamelis x intermedia 'Limelight' may require protection from severe, late spring frosts once the young leaves have emerged in spring.
Flowering Period: January - March.
Flower Colour: Very pale yellow
Rate of Growth: Moderate.
Habit: Medium sized branching shrub with a vase-like shape.
Height: 2.5 m (8 ft).
Spread: 2.5 m (8 ft).
Notes: In soils which may become wet in winter, it is a good idea to mound-plant Hamamelis to improve the drainage around the root system.
