A classic garden plant native to South-east China, Phyllostachys aurea has spectacular tall, golden-yellow canes when established and lush green leaves which make a wonderful rustling sound in a breeze. It is evergreen, a little slow to grow at first, but beautiful when established and can give a very oriental feel to a garden.

The golden canes look especially good against a dark background and this is suitable for growing in a large container.

    • Height: 2.5 m (8 ft)
