- Soil: Moist, fertile soil.
- Hardiness: Hardy.
- Rate of Growth: Moderate.
- Habit: Low spreading bamboo.
- Height: up to 60 cm (2 ft)

- Notes: As this plant can spread, in smaller gardens Pleioblastus pygmaeus is usually best planted in an area with restricted root space, for example at the edge of a border or path.
