Available Autumn/Winter 2017 A handsome plant, x Sycoparrotia semidecidua is semi-evergreen with dark green, oval leaves which stay on the plant in mild winters. The flowers have chocolate coloured buds, opening into lovely Parrotia like, yellow & orange flowers in early spring at a similar time of year to Hamamelis (Witch Hazel).

A rare and early flowering garden shrub!

Supplied Size: 4 or 5L pot (60 - 80 cm tall)

  • Position: Full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Moist or well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy. x Sycoparrotia semidecidua appreciates protection from cold winter winds.
  • Flowering Period: January - March
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: x Sycoparrotia semidecidua grows to be a tall multi-stemmed shrub or small branching tree with an open crown.
    • Height: 3 m (10 ft)
    • Spread: 4 m (13 ft)
  • Notes: x Sycoparrotia semidecidua is a hybrid between Parrotia persica and Sycopsis sinensis.
