A handsome tree native to parts of Asia, Quercus acutissima has glossy dark green chestnut-like leaves which turn shades of yellow and gold before falling in autumn.

Quercus acutissima grows at a reasonable rate to be a medium sized to large tree in time, pyramidal when young with a rounded crown once more established. This oak is notably tolerant of difficult soil conditions, particularly dry areas.

Supplied Size: 4L or 5L pots (approx 4 - 5 year old seed grown plants, 100 - 120 cm tall)

  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Will tolerate most soils but prefers moist yet well drained, acidic soil if available.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Slow until established then moderate.
  • Habit: Quercus acutissima grows to be a medium sized or eventually large tree in the UK.
