A small to medium sized shrub, Hydrangea serrata 'Bluebird' is a lacecap with attractive clusters of lilac blue (or pink in soils with a high pH) flowers in mid to late summer. The leaves are dark green and make an excellent foil for the colourful flowers.

Hydrangea serrata 'Bluebird' is an excellent choice of flowering shrub for a border or woodland area in sun or shade. It will also grow well in a large container.

  • Soil: Moist yet well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.

  • Habit: Hydrangea serrata 'Bluebird' grows to be a medium sized, rounded shrub.
    • Height: 1.2 - 1.5 m (4 - 5 ft)
    • Spread: 1.5 m (5 ft)
  • Notes: The flowers will be a lilac-blue colour in acidic soils and turn purple or pink on neutral or slightly alkali soils.
