Available Winter 2017 - An unusual plant, Hydrangea paniculata 'Dharuma' is significantly smaller than the other Hydrangea paniculata listed here with a compact habit and long lasting flower heads. These appear in mid-late summer and last into autumn with the flower bracts creamy white initially, finally darkening to pink before falling in September. These bracts stand out well against the pretty green leaves.

Hydrangea paniculata 'Dharuma' is a low, compact shrub and can be grown in a large container if required.

  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: July - September.
  • Rate of Growth: Slow.
  • Habit: Hydrangea paniculata 'Dharuma'  grows to be a medium sized, branching shrub which can be pruned hard if required.
    • Height: 1.5 m (5 ft) if left unpruned. (up to 30 - 60 cm if pruned yearly)
    • Spread: 1.5 m (5 ft) if left unpruned. (up to 30 - 60 m if pruned yearly)
  • Pruning: Prune Hydrangea paniculata 'Dharuma' back to a bud every two or three years, 20 - 40 cm above the ground in March. This will keep the plant from getting to large and increase the size of the flower heads.
