Information Only - A rare cultivar which has large, mid-green leaves that are deeply divided into long finger-like sections. Ficus carica 'Digitata' is exceptionally striking when grown as a foliage plant and has a highly ornamental appearance, particularly when trained against a wall or fence. In autumn the leaves turn a lovely, butter yellow before falling.

  • Position: Hot in full sun.
  • Soil: Well drained soil. Ficus carica 'Digitata' will tolerate dry soils and is drought resistant.
  • Hardiness: Hardy. A very cold, prolonged winter may cause die back on some shoots, but it will recover well in the following year.
  • Flowering Period: June - September.
  • Rate of Growth: Slow.
  • Habit: Eventually a small branching tree.
    • Height: 6 m (20 ft)
    • Spread: 6 m (20 ft)
  • Notes: Unlike the Ficus carica 'Brown Turkey', this cultivar does not produce edible figs.
