Native to parts of Chile in South America, Colletia armata 'Rosea' is a very spiny shrub with masses of lovely, fragrant white flowers which are pink when in bud, nestled between the thorns in late autumn and winter. The long dark green thorns with occasional very small leaves in between them.

Colletia armata 'Rosea' is an unusual, very slow growing ornamental plant which makes an eye-catching addition to a sunny garden!

Supplied Size: 3L containers (25 - 40 cm tall)

  • Position: Sheltered in full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained soil.
  • Hardiness: Frost tender. Colletia armata is best grown in mild areas with shelter from cold winds. It will also do well in a large container in most gardens which can be moved into a protected areas in the winter.
  • Flowering Period: September to December
  • Flower Colour: White
  • Rate of Growth: Slow
  • Habit: Colletia armata 'Rosea'  grows to be a small or eventually medium sized branching shrub.
    • Height: up to 2 m (6 ft).
    • Spread: 2 m (6 ft).
  • Notes: In warm areas, Colletia armata 'Rosea' can be grown as an unusual and very effective barrier hedge.
