Grown for its superb display of semi-double, dark red flowers, Camellia japonica 'San Dimas' is an attractive dense, upright shrub. The colourful flowers stand out very well against the dark green, glossy leaves.

Eye-catching shrub for spring interest in a border and will grow well in a container filled with ericaceous compost

Supplied Size: 3L containers (approx 3 years old, 25 - 30 cm tall)

  • Position: Full sun or shade (avoid east facing areas)
  • Soil: Neutral or preferably acid soil. In chalky areas, Camellia japonica 'San Dimas' can be grown in a large container with ericaceous compost.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: March - April.
  • Rate of Growth: Slow to moderate.
  • Habit: Camellia japonica 'San Dimas' grows to be a rounded, medium sized shrub.
    • Height: 2 m (6 ft) - 2.5 m (8 ft)
    • Spread: 2 m (6 ft)
  • Pruning: Prune Camellia japonica 'San Dimas' to shape if required after flowering but before new growth begins in spring.
