Information Only - An unusual maple with vivid dark red winter stems, rich green summer leaves and pretty orange and yellow autumn colour. This is similar to the better known Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku' in appearance, with the main difference being that the 'Eddisbury' has stems of a darker red in winter and a slightly more upright habit. Superb garden shrub with good winter interest.

  • Position: Full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. In our experience, the autumn colour will be more vivid when planted on acidic soils.

  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Large shrub or very small tree with a somewhat upright form once established.
    • Height: up to 4 m (13 ft) / [up to 2.5 m (8 ft) after 10 years]
