Quercus petraea 'Laciniata Crispa' is an extremely rare oak with fascinating narrow, long (up to 25 cm) and sometimes deeply divided leaves. Native to Britain, Quercus petraea is distinguished from our only other native oak, Quercus robur (English Oak) by its stalkless acorns.

The leaves are eye-catching and hang gracefully from the branches. A lovely but slow growing specimen garden tree.

  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Moist yet well drained, fertile soil. Quercus petraea 'Laciniata Crispa' grows well in acid or lime free soils.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Slow.
  • Habit: Eventually a small tree with a rounded crown.
    • Height: up to 10 m (32 ft)
    • Spread: up to 8 m (8 ft)
  • Notes: Quercus petraea 'Laciniata Crispa' is slow growing and will take many years to reach the above listed height. Interestingly, the second flush of growth in mid to late summer is always composed of wider, slightly more chunky leaves.
