An unusual small, deciduous shrub native to China, Indigofera kirilowii has pinnate (feather-like) blue-green leaves and masses of pale pink, wisteria-like flowers in mid to late summer.

Indigofera kirilowii usually requires a warm sunny position with some shelter from cold winds to flower well in the UK.


  • Position: Full sun.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Indigofera kirilowii can suffer from some die back following a very cold winter, however it usually recovers well in the following year.
