Information Only - A rare, small or eventually medium sized tree with downy young shoots and very large, heart-shaped leaves once established. Clusters of fragrant flowers appear on the branches in summer. Unusual specimen tree which is best suited to a warm, sheltered garden.

  • Position: Sheltered in full sun.
  • Soil: Moist or well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Tilia manshurica requires shelter from cold winter wind and protection from late spring frosts once the leaves emerge.
  • Flowering Period: June - July
  • Flower Colour: White
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Eventually a medium sized branching tree.
    • Height: 12 m (40 ft)
    • Spread: 10 m (32 ft)
